New Year Message

Happy New Year!

Well I cannot quite believe it is 2019. Last term sped by and it was good to see students settle into the term and all made progress in their new classes by Christmas. Thank you to all those who attended the Christmas fetes and we are pleased to have raised over £800.00 for the charity MIND and for our Christmas Jumper day we raised £630.21 for Save the Children. A big thank you to all staff, students and parents who contributed to these fantastic donations.

We have an exciting Spring term ahead of us and I hope many of you will come along to our parent drop-ins, meetings and events as the weeks progress. Please keep an eye out for updates on our website and messages in the home-school diaries.

I would just like to inform you of certain staff changes. From September 2018 I dropped down to 4 days a week and so Shaun Dodds and I are now Co-Heads.

In addition, we have appointed 2 new deputy headteachers:

Nithra Subramanium - based at Beckton site

Ben Hawes - based at Stratford site.

They are both outstanding practitioners with expertise in working with children and young adults with special educational needs. I am sure they will have a positive impact on the education of our students and development of the staff.

Finally, I would like to announce that we have recently become a Teaching School which recognises our expertise in many areas and now we will be helping other practitioners to develop their practices. Our Director of the JFK Teaching School Alliance is Jim Robinson and there will be more information to follow, but in the meantime you can contact him at the school.

I am looking forward to the year ahead and I hope you will be able to join us in our future endeavours. Please do not hesitate to contact either  Shaun or myself and we hope to see you soon.

All the best for 2019!!
