On 13thth of May 2016, class 8 at Stratford went on an amazing visit to The Emirates Stadium.
One of our students (a huge Arsenal fan) had won a Jack Petchey Award for leadership and he chose to take his class on a ‘Legends’ tour, hosted by Arsenal veteran Charlie George!
It was fantastic to have our Variety club mini bus, which meant everyone could set off together and when we got to the ground we even found some FREE parking! Students and staff were guided around the building with Mr George giving us fun facts and insightful details about the club and its history.
We visited the changing rooms, the directors box and lounge and even went to the Diamond Club which costs a mere £33,000.00 per year to join and has an eight year waiting list! One student decided to give an impromptu press conference and then we all lined up to go through the iconic tunnel and out towards the pitch, just like the real players do for every home game.
Thank you very much to The Jack Petchey Foundation, The Variety Club, and the staff at the stadium who went out of their way to ensure everything went smoothly. Thank you to Charlie George and thank you to one very special student who gave us all a fantastic day to remember.
Oh and Happy Birthday Christine. What a way to spend it!
