JFK Special School
Enhancing life through learning

BT & The Lord's Taverners

Our relationship with the Lord Taverners and their amazing support of JFK has benefitted the school by introducing us to and arranging funding as follows:

BT - Sponsored the 2012 Paralympics and have been involved with JFK during that year to improve facilities at the school and encourage interest in both the Olympics and Paralympics. The school was visited by one of their athlete ambassadors, Ade Adepitan MBE, a paralympian wheel chair basketball player who comes from Stratford and met the students and had a tour of the school.

They  provided funding for new Sensory Room and to upgrade Sensory Pool to become an interactive area with sound, light and other sensory facilities.  All the work for these projects was undertaken by Experia who have enormous experience in this area. (See gallery below)

Merchant Taylors - Again a charity who were introduced to us by the Lord Taverners.  Our new Soft play room is up and running.  We even have other local schools who use it for some of their students.

The Lady Taverners:  Through the Lady Taverners our students had the opportunity to visit Mudchute Farm which was sponsored by The Royal Bank of Scotland.  They provided transport for our pupils and goody bags for the students to bring away with them.  This was a wonderful day out which was a fantastic sensory experience, and was also a sunny day!

The Lord Taverners:  We have been supplied with a mini-bus for our students by the "Taverners"   This will enables us to have enough transport to take our students out and about to enhance their learning experience and participate in life outside of the school environment.  The bus was presented to us by David Cameron at Number 10 as it was the 5,000th bus that the Lords Taverners had donated to various organisations.
